Our Story

In 2011 Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware, started a chapel ministry in Easton, Maryland, faithfully sending a core group of members to meet weekly in Easton. They launched monthly outreach efforts into the Easton community to build a congregation and continued this work for four years, until Easton Baptist Church was officially constituted as an autonomous church in 2015. During this time, God was simultaneously preparing a pastor and his family at Eastern Shore Baptist Church for their next adventure in ministry. Pastor Jake Reid, his wife Valerie and their two young boys answered the call to come to this burgeoning church in 2012 and Jake began training for what would develop into the lead pastor role at Easton Baptist Church in 2014.

In the years since, the Lord has continued his work through Easton Baptist Church to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the faithful teaching and preaching of the Word in a genuine and loving gospel community. Since Jake became lead pastor in 2014, Easton Baptist Church has also added two additional pastors, Alex Newton and James Detmers,  as well as cultivating a thriving children’s ministry while continuing efforts to love, teach and support our growing congregation with the kind of Shepherds’ hearts God calls to lead His church. Here at Easton Baptist Church, God is continuing to write His story in and through our leadership, congregation and community, as we all strive to know and love Him more deeply.
